Platform enhancements help health professions programs improve curriculum data, reporting, and accreditation readiness
KINGSTON, Ontario, and NEW YORK, New York — August 6, 2026 — Elentra today announced its support for the updated AAMC MedBiquitous Educational Methodology framework, a major revision to the shared terminology health professions programs use to describe instructional and assessment methods.
Elentra participated as an implementation pilot partner in the multi-year initiative, helping evaluate how the revised framework could be incorporated into its curriculum-management system used by health professions schools in North America and globally.
Developed through analysis of curriculum data, a needs assessment with over five-hundred responses, and more than a year-and-a-half of interprofessional collaboration, the update creates a clearer and more flexible way to represent contemporary teaching and assessment practices.
“At its core, this initiative is about giving the health professions education community a shared language that supports consistent, meaningful data,” said Alexis Rossi, Director of MedBiquitous at the AAMC. “The involvement of educators, accreditation experts, researchers, and implementation partners helped ensure that the revised framework could support a wide range of professions, programs, and educational models.”
A central feature of the updated framework is a flexible matrix model that separates the core educational method from the context in which it occurs. Institutions can identify an instructional or assessment method consistently while adding relevant characteristics such as modality, group size, learner type, instructor or assessor role, and assessment purpose.
This approach gives programs greater consistency without requiring every institution to describe its curriculum in exactly the same way. Institutions can capture the level of detail most relevant to their accreditation, reporting, research, and program-evaluation needs.
To support the revised framework, Elentra refreshed its MedBiquitous instructional and assessment methods and introduced matrix categories that allow contextual attributes to be documented independently from the underlying educational method.
Elentra also added reporting capabilities that help institutions examine how methods and associated attributes are used across their curricula. Programs can review detailed information about individual learning experiences or examine aggregated views showing how frequently different educational approaches are used and how much curriculum time they represent.
These capabilities can help institutions identify patterns, evaluate the balance of learning experiences, prepare accreditation evidence, and assess whether curricular changes are being implemented as intended.

The implementation also supports greater interoperability by giving institutions and technology providers a more consistent foundation for organizing and exchanging curriculum information.
